Bechard Travels: A Walk on the Beach, Moose McGillycuddy's, Snorkeling, and a Luau

Today we went for a walk on the beach except this time, we walked in the other direction. To give a better flavor of these walks, this area has about 4-5 miles that you can walk along the shore, some of which is a sidewalk along the lush greenery, some is a dirt path, some cobble stone, some actually on the beach, and some over resort lawns. We can see why people like to use this for walking, jogging, and site seeing. Early in the morning it is in the shade as the sun comes up on the other side of the Island. We wanted to get a walk in before the sun hit. We went to a location where the sidewalk stopped and while Kathy was looking at coral I went ahead a little further. There was a guy on the beach with his IPad walking with his wife. We wanted to take from him and throw it in the ocean, but we did not. Upon returning, we headed to Moose McGillycuddy's with a "two for one" breakfast coupon. The coconut flavored syrup was delicious along with the giant banana muffins.

After our late breakfast, we returned, and attempted to print a voucher at the hotel. The business center wanted $5 to print this one voucher. After speaking to the front desk, we emailed it to the front desk who printed it for us. Little did they know it was for a Luau for the place next door :). We decided to take a ride up the coast to check out a place that we heard was good for snorkeling. We followed the 4 lane highway which became 2 lanes which then became 1.5 lanes and very close to the water. The coastline is a mix of beaches and lava rock which spilled into the ocean. The coral reefs are a result of the lava rock. We found a little cove where tourists were snorkeling and bravely lowered ourselves into the cove which included huge reefs under the water. The sight was amazing and with very colorful fish and coral. Our course we did not have our underwater camera with us... : / We may have to go back and take some underwater pictures.

We topped off the evening with our Luau at the resort next door. The meal was typical with the cooked pork, and various other fixins. The men and women dancers were very good and the program explained the history of Hawaii. It finished with a fire baton twirler. After we got back to the room, we noted our internet was not working, which is why we are late with this posting.
